For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.
God loves us so much that He sent His precious Son to save us. He did not have to do that. We messed up. We were wrong, but God still wants to help us. Jesus came to save us, not to make us fell bad about ourselves, feel bad about the poor decisions we’ve made. He wants us to repent of our sines and move on and do what we know is right – with His help. Verse 16 says “…whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him…” that means that we have to believe in Him, believe we need Him, believe we don’t have a chance without Him. We have to believe that He loves us more than we know and He would never do anything to hurt us. We have to trust Him more than the thoughts that pop into our mind and try to distract us.
23 Since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives.
24 [All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus,
25 Whom God put forward [before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received] through faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over and ignored former sins without punishment.
Don’t stay in the guilt – no matter what it is, know that God forgives you – as soon as you ask for His forgiveness. Ever single person on the face of the planet has sinned. Your sin is not new to God. He is not surprised by it. He knew about you before your mother was born. That is why He sent Jesus. Verse 24 says that we are all justified and in right standing with God. Don’t wallow in your guilt and sin. Jesus is standing in the gap for you. Ask for His help to not go down that road again. Be patient with yourself and know that God loves you.
Psalms 103: 11-12 NIV:
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
God wants to forgive you. You just have to ask. You also have to forgive yourself and move on.
John 1: 16 AMP:
For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.
This may be hard to understand because we as humans don’t always forgive easily. We think that we have to earn forgiveness or God’s love, or do something special to deserve something so amazing. But grace is freely given by God – out of His abundant love. God gives us forgives because He wants to. He wants to bless you. You have to keep moving forward with Him. God loves you more than you can image. You have to believe it and go and sin no more with Jesus’ help.
The problem with sin is – even if we ask for forgiveness and God forgets – we remember. It can take a a long time to forgive ourselves. And even though God forgives us, we still have to live with the consequences of those actions. But, God will help you get through anything that you have to face. God will work with you. He knows your heart. Come to Him and He will be patient with you. 2 Peter 3:9
The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.
God is extraordinarily patient! What a relief! I know I’m not. But I am so thankful that I have a God that is. Work with God to let go of the strongholds in your life. He is coming back and He wants to take you home with Him.
Don’t give up on yourself. One of the worst things about sin is that it drives a wedge between you and God. It makes you want to run in shame like Adam and Eve
in the garden. It’s pointless! God knows what you did. Fight the urge to hide from Him. No mater what it is. James 4:8-10
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
Acknowledge that what you did was wrong, wash your hands of it and draw close to your Father and he will draw close to you. Let God love you. Let God lead you. He’ll never lead you astray. Fight for your life. Fight to know and experience God’s love. Don’t give up. No mater what, God hasn’t given up on you.
